Well if things are scary now hold on. I think a recession is coming. I hate the fact so many people didn't vote. I think we are getting what we deserved because more people voted for the guy making the decisions. I did not. But i'm holding on for the ride. But what really pisses me off more is that so many people (they say 90 million americans) didn't vote. It's frustrating. Why isn't voting on a weekend? Or over a weekend?
But more than that explaining to foreigners that yes Americans voted for this is all true. We did. Not all of us, but enough of us did. So we have to accept the consequences of our actions. The consequence is 47 said he was going to trim down government so when he closes SS offices and fires workers NOT SORRY at all. Cry me a river if you voted for him and lose your job well he is doing what he said. Making the government more efficient.
If things are more expensive from Tariffs, again NOT SORRY. He told us what he was going to do. It was pretty clear he was going to use tariffs, his favorite word. The most beautiful word in the dictionary.
Your portfolio tanking? Well you agreed to the short term pain for long term gain if you supported 47. No take backs. We can only move foward. The only thing worse than someone crying about voting for 47? Someone who didn't vote at all.

And yeah, unfortunately, many just didn't even come out and vote at all. They were somehow convinced that none of the candidates were any good, which is not true, but it was an uphill battle trying to convince some of them that.
Personally, this drop in market cap doesn't... well I won't say it doesn't bother me, but more like it didn't surprise me at all. We were already warned, many times, that this could very realistically happen.
Just don't let the GOP (or Russian propaganda via social media for that matter) and astroturf this somehow, away from the actual truth here. Please.

I voted, and I certainly did not support this jerk. What’s disheartening is that we’ve reached a point where people are willing to give up their rights and harbor hatred toward others simply because of differing views. There’s little room for meaningful discourse or finding common ground; instead, people are often outright nasty.
@Mumof2 here in my state the rules were changed, after every general election, you must register to vote by mail. Voters were not notified of said change. We found out after not receiving our ballots which was too late to request for the upcoming special election. The election process which should be easier has gotten a lot harder.

Every state allows excuse based absentee voting for those who are disabled or will be out of the area on Election Day.
8 states are fully vote by mail - CA, CO, HI, NV, OR, UT, VT, WA
28 States allow no excuse mail absent voting - AK, AZ, Fl, GA, ID, IL, IA, KS, ME, MD, MA, MI, MN, MT, NE, NJ, NM, NY, NC, ND, OH, OK, PA, RI, SD, VA, WI, WY
For those who don’t trust the mail, there are drop off options.
Interestingly, some of the lowest turnout is in HI, CA where voting is the easiest.
I oppose making Election Day a holiday because the most essential workers work on Holidays, and people would use it as an excuse to travel rather than vote.
There are very few people who I think have a valid excuse to not vote.
And of course I am a voter and I worked very hard to not let this happen.
What we are learning is that 30% of our fellow Americans are actively looking to harm people and 40% don’t care.
The 30% of us who do care cannot save the rest from themselves and they are taking us all down with them.

And voting absentee doesn't happen a lot because people don't know they can. They don't know how to do it.
Then why didn't 90 million people vote?

The last recession the U.S. experienced was in the early days of the COVID pandemic in 2020. In 2024, the US economy grew by 2.8% overall, with the fourth quarter showing a 2.4% increase.
