omicron the gift that keeps on giving

January 20th, 2022 at 12:38 am

The cases of omicron covid have obviously been rapidly spreading.  There is no more contact tracing.  And so many people are over it. They don't care.  They may have it but they don't care if they test or spread it around. It's an interesting dichotomy now.

People who are vaccinated just think whatever.  Sure let's go out and transmit it.  I don't want to change my life.  But what happened to the common good?  When you were sick before were you running around trying to spread the cold?  I swear all people are getting very rude.  I almost feel like people are more angry than before.  It's a weird thing.

And people who are vaccinated are terrified as well.  Obviously because it's hard to avoid. I have to wonder people who don't care if they are spreading it, why won't you just stay at home?  Why won't you test and admit you have covid?  What's the problem?  It's not different than having had the flu.  So stay home and chill.

But instead it feels more like people are annoyed at covid.  Annoyed at each other.  Vaccinated people blame unvaccinated. And now they feel like they can behave the same.  I wonder what happened to realizing that sometimes what's best for society is best for everyone?  Like not spreading germs.

I'm in Florida and I can write several books on people's behavior. I was exposed, the person who I came in contact never notified me, someone else did. I couldn't get a test ended up finding a mobile testing company that charged $75. Thank God I was negative.
Exposed and not one call to say anything, I could gave passed this virus along to my mother, selfish

here in australia the govt just opened up everything and pretty much said if you survive covid then congrats if not then sorry...they don't care who gets it...how many die etc...in almost 3 years we had 4 covid deaths and no covid in our community...in the last 7 weeks we now have over 81,000 cases and 50 deaths...hospitals can't cope as they don't have the resources or staff to cope with it...and the govt doesn't care...stuff is being delivered or store shelves are not being stacked as they don't have the staff to do...so many are down with covid...but 1 thing I have found out that many of the deaths are not from the omicron but the delta variant...they don't have enough RAT tests to go around and you can't get tested unless you are a close contact so many people are lying now so they can get tested...it is such shambles...every country eeds to shut their borders and get it under control and then start to open up...help the poorer countries to get vaccinated etc...but they just don't care...they are worried about money and the economy but they are ruining these by doing it the way they are doing it...its been almost 3 years since this started....I can understand why people are getting frustrated

Once everyone has it -- if that happens -- it still doesn't mean we'll be over it. I'm afraid the attitude of letting Omicron rip is going to create conditions where a new variant will develop. The next one could be more deadly. I think people need to continue masking up, since so many don't know they have it, and continue to quarantine if they feel sick. It only makes sense to me.

I don't want to shut things down but I want people to have the same ideas as before of "oh i'm sick maybe I should stay at home and not spread whatever flu, covid, cold I have around." What happened to staying at home and keeping your kids home if they are sick.

CB I also worry about another variant. I'm hoping we can get back to normal and just travel.
