Holiday Cards

December 9th, 2017 at 04:12 pm

Do you do holiday cards? Do you get them? I like getting holiday cards. I like seeing my friends kids get older and hearing about their lives, especially those who we don't live by anymore.

But it's not cheap to do it. This year on groupon I bought a groupon for holiday cards from staples for $42 for 200 cards. But then there is also the cost of stamps. So probably we're spending $100 in all. I get it now why people hate doing it and say it's expensive. But I still like it.

Do you do it? Do you like getting them?

I love holiday cards but we only send about 20 photo cards a year. We normally take our own photos, find a Walgreens photo card coupon and order for about ten bucks.

I enjoy getting fun mail any time of year, but I've noticed fewer and fewer people send them. I only stopped sending them two years ago. I figure most people I'm connected with on Facebook. The only exception would be my mother in law who is over 80 years. She is not on Facebook, so I still send her a card.

    Have you considered eCards?

I grab six boxes or so of the very inexpensive cards from Dollar General AFTER Christmas. Usually runs me $3.00. Then, the following Christmas, I take some time to write a little note in each one inviting them to call, write or text, sharing some pertinent family updates and of course, blessings for a safe and happy holiday season.

The stamps probably total $20.00 but that is a small price to pay for some holiday cheer. All up, all in, under $25.00.

I don't fancy cards as such. Therefore, I don't buy cards neither do I expect it from people.

We make donations to the Paralyzed Vets and the send us free blank cards and mailing labels every year as a thank you gift. We use those so it is only the price of stamps. Of course I don't send a lot of cards, so the dozen they send are adequate to my needs.
