Is exercise clothes acceptable?

March 16th, 2016 at 04:28 am

I am still in my gym conundrum and testing out gyms. But something I've noticed for a long time that women are wearing a lot of workout clothes outside of the gym. That leggings are the "norm". Okay I am terrible about fashion and absolutely have no fashion sense. But I try to not do anything atrocious.

I thought you weren't supposed to be wearing these exercise leggings outside of working out because they are rather clingy and sheer? That the words "camel toe" came about because of these leggings? Or that Lulu CEO got into trouble for saying his legging weren't sheer people were too fat. So no leggings because it shows off the fat.

So did I miss the memo? Is it becoming acceptable and the norm to run around in yoga/exercise pants? Or are we still supposed to only wear them if we wear tops that cover flashing people?

Don't get me wrong I find them very comfortable but I'm uncomfortable with the idea of flashing people.

Well, I'm older so maybe a bit out of it, but I am often startled by the leggings I see young women wearing and how revealing they are. Yeah, I understand wanting to look sleek and sexy, but on the other hand, you don't want dirty old men leering at you! I say they belong in the gym.

It is very popular, especially with younger women and teenage girls. The schools are having a hard time with them and girls breaking the dress codes. I think it looks like they are wearing spray paint. I don't consider it acceptable public attire at all. Leggings are not pants. They are one step up from nylons and tights and just like nylons and tights are meant to be worn under something else. Yoga pants are a little better, but still belong in the gym. Track suits are okay.

For me I guess it depends on the look. I'll wear yoga pants with a nice top

I wear somewhat baggy yoga pants to yoga. But if you're talking about the skin tight leggings, big Ick factor there. I've seen plenty of overweight women walking around in them and they seem oblivious to the fact they do NOT look good. Shrug.

Weight aside, I think I'm more weirded out by the fact it shows um everything. Luckyrobin yes I thought leggings were leggings to be worn under not as pants.

I hate this! With men, it's the large baggy sweatpants, often with a college name down the leg.. so horrible.
