loaning things?

August 17th, 2014 at 03:26 am

So I loaned a friend a few dvds. My DH mentioned today that some of the DVDs were in poor condition and scratched up. He's the control freak and didn't say anything when I loaned them. And when I loaned them to her she said the kids wouldn't touch it and they'd be returned in great condition.

So now my DH wants me to talk to her. So obviously I will tell her. But what should I say? I guess that's the end of lending her anything.

I wouldn't feel funny about inquiring. She's the one who should feel embarrassed for not saying anything when she returned them. I would just gee, there were a lot of scratches on those DVDs. Give her time to either apologize or deny. Then you'll see what kind of friend she really is.

At a minimum, I wouldn't loan any more to her. Upon the next request, I would mentioned that your husband noticed the scratches on the last ones loaned and doesn't want to share any longer. Only you know if it is worth mentioning.

Do you live near a Family Video. Take the DVDs there and see if they can be cleaned in the super duty cleaner. I was amazed how like new a DVD came out (we rented the only copy of something that had something melted and gooey on it.) I was glad I noticed it before putting it into the DVD player and took it back - they cleaned it and refunded the money.

    Maybe rethink loaning to her.

At this point, would it do any good to mention something to her? I agree with creditcardfree...don't loan anything else and if she asks, then say something.

I believe our friendship might be ending over other issues.
